You are probably already aware that Calcium and Vitamin D are important for bone health, but Calcium is important in other ways too, particular for your muscles and brain. Low magnesium levels are often the underlying cause of muscle cramping, too. Because you’re already getting some of these nutrients in your multivitamin/mineral supplements and in your diet, I recommend that you cut back the recommended dose of three capsules daily to two capsules every day, and take them with meals because high concentrations of calcium in your empty gut will stimulate smooth muscle contractions that you may experience as unpleasant cramping sensations.
